Kenya Barris may have already moved on amid split from his ex. 

Kenya Barris was spotted in New York City holding hands with long-time former Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi. You may recall Kenya Barris filing for divorce from his estranged wife, Dr. Rania “Rainbow” Barris, after twenty years of marriage. Reportedly, the two have been separated since 2020, citing “irreconcilable differences” ultimately as the reason the union is inevitably broken.

The Black-ish creator and Dr. Rania “Rainbow” Barris share six children, whom Kenya seeks joint physical and legal custody of, while, as previously reported, Dr. Rania has stated that she is also requesting sole custody of their kids, in addition to spousal support. She said she wants,

“primary physical custodial responsibility”

While divorce proceedings are still underway, Kenya seems to have moved on to the newest chapter of his book. Reportedly, Padma Lakshmi and Barris spent Sunday afternoon taking a very public stroll, with locked hands through SoHo. Padma reportedly,

“Never left his side while they were on their way to McNally Jackson Bookstore in the SoHo neighborhood.”

Padma could also be seen sharing images with Barris from her phone, and both were heard chatting as they walked in sync past street vendors and onlookers. 

Though no official announcements have been made, a source revealed that the two,

 “Met through work. They are developing something together and are getting to know each other,” 

they also added, 

“It’s very new.”

During a Watch What Happens Live interview in 2019, Padma confirmed that she was indeed single to host Andy Cohen. The third time appears to be the last time for Kenya and Dr. Rania’s reconciliation efforts, so allegations of a newly sparked romance may have a ring of truth. Neither Padma nor Barris have confirmed dating rumors.
