Don Lemon Announces His New Show Will Be On X (Formerly Twitter), Praises Platform For Its ‘Free Speech’ Policies

On Tuesday (Jan. 9), renowned journalist Don Lemon revealed that he’d partnered with social media giant X (formerly known as Twitter) for an all-new project.

Don Lemon

As previously reported, last year, CNN suddenly terminated Don Lemon after nearly two decades on the network. Throughout his controversial career, he’s been known for his strong-minded opinions and straight-to-the-point stance.

Because of this, many suspected Don Lemon’s alleged “misogynistic” views, among other things, played a role in the media company’s abrupt firing.

In an X post from April 2023, he shared,

“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.”

Following the let-go, CNN released a statement and thanked the 57-year-old anchor for his “contributions.”

During a later interview, Lemon broke his silence on the departure, expressing his need to be able to maintain an upright image in his craft.

He said,

“I have a responsibility, not only as a journalist but as an American, to tell the truth, and to abide by the promises of the Constitution… because the Constitution says a more perfect union, not a perfect union. I’m not a perfect person–no one is. In order to fulfill the promise of the Constitution, we have to stand up for what is right. We have to stand up for the truth.”

Now, ex-morning show host Lemon is taking his honesty to X. In a recent post, he announced the unveiling of ‘The Don Lemon Show’ on the networking site.

The soon-come production is anticipated to see Lemon covering a wide range of subjects, which will include world issues, sports, and entertainment.

He spoke of the program,

“I’ve heard you… and today I am back bigger, bolder, [and] freer! My new media company’s first project is The Don Lemon Show. It will be available to everyone, easily, whenever and wherever you want it, streaming on the platforms where the conversations are happening.”

Lemon added, gushing about his excitement to debut on X’s freedom-friendly platform:

“You’ll find it first on X, the biggest space for free speech in the world. I know now more than ever that we need a place for honest debate and discussion without the hall monitors. This is just the beginning stay tuned.”

According to X, the content will be in 30-minute episodes (three times weekly) and serve as an extension of the Louisiana native’s new brand.

A release date is (reportedly) scheduled in the next few weeks.

Additionally, X owner Elon Musk had a couple of welcoming words for Lemon.

He posted,

“Don is free to say whatever he would like. There is no editorial gestapo on this platform. We don’t even know what he or Tucker [Carlson] or others will say before they say it.”
