Beyoncé Reveals New Country Album ‘Act II’, Drops The Visuals For 2 New Singles ’16 Carriages’ And ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’
Beyoncé is officially in her country girl era.
The multi-hyphenate announced during Super Bowl 58 on Sunday night (Feb. 11) that the anticipated Act II of her Renaissance franchise will be released on March 29. Taking a different route from Act I, which featured iconic house and bounce music, Beyoncé is going country this time.
The forthcoming album was revealed in a two-part commercial in partnership with Verizon, with her kickoff commercial playing in the first half of the Kansas City Chiefs game against the San Francisco 49ers. It showed her comedically trying to break Verizon’s internet by doing head-turning activities like going to the moon and running for Beyoncé of the United States.

In her second commercial, which aired shortly after Usher’s high-packed halftime performance, viewers were shocked when they got their first peek at what will be Act II.

And her unveiling didn’t stop there. She also launched two visuals for her first two singles: “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em,” with the latter serving as a nod to her home state.
Act II comes on the heels of Beyoncé’s global tour in support of her seventh studio album Renaissance: Act I, which featured hits like “Cuff It,” and “Break My Soul.” The project was dedicated to her late Uncle Johnny, who she saluted as the“godmother and first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album.” It also paid homage to Black and queer creators. A film for the concert was released in AMC theaters and topped the US box office with $22 million opening weekend.
It’s safe to say Act II could put her in the running for the coveted Album of the Year Grammy award. Her husband and hip-hop icon Jay-Z called out the recording academy at the ceremony earlier this month, pointing out that she has the most Grammys but has yet to win the AOTY honor. He said accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award,
“She has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year. So even by your own metrics taht doesn’t work. Think about that. Most Grammys, never won album of the year. That doesn’t work.”
