Jamie Foxx Hints At Return To Stand-Up Comedy: ‘I Got Some Jokes & A Story To Tell’ + Vows To Also Detail Recent Health Scare ‘In A Funny Way’
Jamie Foxx is ready to make his fans laugh again.

In a recent Instagram post, the actor posted a video of himself from his 2002 HBO special “I Might Need Security,” impersonating Prince, one of the most prolific musical artists of all time.
For the caption, the “Django Unchained” star wrote,
“PRINCE singing the Brady Bunch theme song was a moment… I’m planning on bringing more moments…Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you. I got some jokes, and a story to tell…#backonmyfunnysh*t”

The recent hint at his return to the comedy stage comes nearly a year after the actor and singer was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical issue in April 2023. There’s still no word on what caused the medical scare, but Foxx declared he would reveal it soon in true form.

While accepting the Producers Award at the African American Films Critics Association Awards on Sunday (March 3), the Ray star said,
“Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened. But I gotta do it in my way. I’ma do it in a funny way. We’re going to be on stage, I’m gonna tell you, we’re going to go back to the stand-up sort of roots, but I’ll tell you in my way.”
The Oscar winner jokingly stated that the now-anticipated stand-up show would be called “What Had Happened Was.” He also mentioned he’d address the rumors that somebody cloned him.

Foxx last gave an update on his health in December 2023 as he accepted the Critics Choice Association Vanguard Award in Los Angeles, his first public appearance since his hospitalization.

At the time, the Texas native revealed he had a “new respect for life.” He referenced his ability to walk on the stage himself and said,
“I want to thank everybody. I’ve been through something, I’ve been through some things. It’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago. I couldn’t actually walk.”
At one point, the “Unpredictable” singer joked,
“I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light! It was hot in that tunnel! I didn’t know what I was doing. Sh*t, am I going to the right place? I see the devil going, ‘C’mon.'”
Foxx appeared to be doing well when he was photographed on the set of his movie, “Back In Action,” on January 20. It was one of the first times the star was spotted out and about since his health scare.
