Lady Gaga Defends International Women’s Day Post Featuring Trans Influencer Dylan Mulvaney Following Heated Criticism: ‘This Kind Of Hatred Is Violence’
Lady Gaga is proudly standing up for the trans community.
On March 8th, trans actress and influencer Dylan Mulvaney shared images on Instagram of herself and Lady Gaga from a recent photoshoot for Haus Labs, which is the singer’s makeup brand. The post was captioned,
“Happy international women’s day.”

Following the now-viral upload, Dylan Mulvaney faced what Lady Gaga referred to as “vitriol and hatred” for sharing the photo in celebration of International Women’s Day. Some critics argued that the trans influencer shouldn’t represent women, with numerous comments misgendering both Dylan Mulvaney and Gaga.

Earlier today (March 11), Lady Gaga took to Instagram to slam naysayers and internet trolls for the harsh comments left under the post. The pop sensation stated,
“It’s appalling to me that a post about National Women’s Day by Dylan Mulvaney and me would be met with such vitriol and hatred.”
She continued,
“But it is not surprising given the immense work that it’s obvious we still have to do as a society to make room for transgender lives to be cherished and upheld by all of us.”
The “A Star is Born” actress also sent a message to women, saying,
“I hope all women will come together to honor us ALL for International Women’s Day, and may we do that always until THE DAY that all women are celebrated equally. That all people are celebrated equally. A day where people of all gender identities are celebrated on whichever holiday speaks to them.”

Mulvaney gratefully responded to Lady Gaga’s post,
“You mean the world to me. Love ya”

When Mulvaney initially made the International Women’s Day post, it wasn’t long until it was overrun with highly critical remarks.
One IG user wrote,
“Why’s Dylan representing. He’s “NOT” a woman. What an insult to us “REAL” woman. Quit invading our territory!”

Another person chimed in saying,
“Nope. Not gonna play that game.”

Someone else added,
“Shout out to all the real women! Not men playing dress up.”

Lady Gaga concluded her remarks by urging everyone to “come together.”
“May we all stand and honor the complexity and challenge of trans life—that we do not know, but can seek to understand and have compassion for.”
