Update: Candiace Dillard Bassett’s Husband Chris Bassett Weighs In On Her Desire For ‘Brown’ Babies: ‘People Can Have Their Preferences…She Knows She’s Not Getting Dark-Skinned Babies’
Update (March 20): Candiace Dillard Bassett’s husband Chris Bassett is sharing his thoughts after she expressed a “fear” of having light-skinned children and her hope that their babies would be “brown.”
He called into the Way Up With Angela Yee show on Tuesday (March 19), where Candiace Dillard Bassett has been serving as a guest co-host all week.
Asked by Angela Yee how he felt about Candiace Dillard Bassett’s remarks, the chef said,
“I don’t know why everybody is so angry right now. My Twitter is blowing up.”
He added that her comments were nothing new to him.
“Candiace and I have been having this conversation since probably the day that we met. Not necessarily with us having babies, but I think people can have their preferences.”
Chris Bassett continued,
“We joke about it now since we’ve been married and together, she knows she’s not getting dark-skinned babies. It’s just not scientifically possible.”
Angela Yee and Candiace joked that it’s still possible for Candiace to get her wish, to which Chris Bassett responded,
“If that happens, it’s great. But it’s okay to have preferences. I don’t get why people get so upset.”
Sharing his own desires for his and Candiace’s children, Chris said with a laugh,
“I hope that they have lots of luscious thick hair because I started going bald at 18. Is that bad for me to say that I want my kids to have hair?”

Original Story (March 19): Candiace Dillard Bassett is opening up about hopes for her future children.
The Real Housewives of Potomac star and singer, 37, stopped by Breakbeat Media podcast recently and shared why she is afraid of giving birth to light-skinned children one day.

In the clip that has been making its rounds this week, Candiace Dillard Bassett first pointed out that in the past, she mostly dated Black men before tying the knot with a white man, Chris Bassett, in 2018. Asked if anyone in her family took issue with her marrying outside of her race, she said they did not but added,
“I do have a fear of having light-skinned children.”
She laughed before she continued,
“I want my kids to be brown. But they’re probably not gonna be brown. And I’m like, becoming okay with it. I want my kids to be brown. But if they’re not, it’s fine.”
The ‘Drive Back’ singer, who has been vocal against colorism in reality and on RHOP, admitted that she didn’t “think about it when I met Chris though.”
