Flavor Flav Defends Country Artist Jelly Roll After His Wife Says He’s Been Bullied About His Weight On Social Media: ‘How Dare Y’all Try To Judge’
Update (April 25, 2024): Flavor Flav is coming to Jelly Roll’s defense. The legendary rapper stood up for the country star on X (formerly Twitter) after his wife said he “got off the internet” because “he’s so tired of being bullied about his f*cking weight.”
In a passionate clip shared Wednesday (April 24), Flavor Flav said,
“How dare y’all try to judge my man about his weight and his character? Let me tell you something, this man is winning awards for his music, okay? This man’s music has been giving a lot of people hope that’s stranded in the streets, locked up in jail, people that’s on drugs.”
He continued,
“On a personal note, Jelly Roll is one of the nicest, I mean, one of the absolutely nicest men on the planet that y’all would ever want to know, and a lot of people would love to be like Jelly Roll.”
He told Jelly Roll’s haters to “take a step back and judge yourselves because y’all judging him is not gonna stop him from being successful. Power to you, Jelly Roll.”
He captioned the video,
“Y’all gone and bullied one of THE NICEST people off social media…so I felts the need to standup for my man JellyRoll. That man does so much for people and communities through his music and activism ,,, Luv me some @JellyRoll615 and Bunnie.”
Original Story (April 23, 2024): Celebrities are human too!
That’s the message country singer Jelly Roll’s wife Bunnie Xo wanted to get across recently while revealing that online hate against her husband sparked his hiatus from social media.
Bunnie Xo spoke about her husband’s previous exit from the internet during an episode of her podcast Dumb Blonde.
“My husband got off the internet because he is so tired of being bullied about his f**cking weight, and that makes me want to cry because he is the sweetest angel baby.”
She continued:
“My husband doesn’t show it to you guys, but…It hurts him…The internet can say whatever the f**k they want about you, and they say, ‘Well, you’re a celebrity; you’re supposed to be able to handle it.’ No, the f**k we’re not.”
In case you’re unfamiliar with the country star, Jelly Roll, real name Jason Bradley DeFord, 39, began his career as a recording artist back in 2003 and more recently started getting mainstream recognition following the release of his singles “Need a Favor” in 2023 and “Son of a Sinner” in 2021. The latter won three CMT Music Awards and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist that year.
Jelly Roll’s wife Bunnie Xo, real name Alyssa DeFord, continued defending her husband of nearly seven years, adding that bullying anyone, celebrity or not, shouldn’t be tolerated at all.
“Don’t bully people because you never know where they are mentally…I’m sorry, I’m gonna stand up for the f*cking underdogs. You’re never gonna bully me, you’re never gonna lie about me or my family…All you gotta do is just leave me and my family the f*ck alone, and you won’t get called out.”
As of now, it looks like Jelly Roll is active on Instagram, where he has 3 million followers. His most recent post as of now is from April 9.
