Chance The Rapper Speaks On Divorce w/ Kirsten Corley In New Song ‘Buried Alive’: ‘Where His Wife At?’
Update (April 26, 2024): It looks like Chance The Rapper is coping with his and Kirsten Corley’s divorce through his music.
In a new song called “Buried Alive,” the Chicago native appears to briefly dress his split, rapping,
“Where’s his money now? Wher? his wife at?/ Where his manag?r? Where his hype at?/ Then they threw the dirt on the casket.”
Chance The Rapper, who is literally seen laying in a casket in the newly released video, also raps,
“I just needed, I just needed somethin’ I could rap on/ Right then and there the roof caved, quick rubble stone/ The kid kicked another hole, the dirt filled another hole/ The pen in the hand of a hero arose/ Clenched fist clawin’ it’s way out the highs and lows.”

Original Story (April 3, 2024): The wife of hip-hop artist Chance The Rapper revealed the two are calling it quits on their marriage.
Kirsten Corley took her social media earlier today (April 3rd) to share the news.
In a post uploaded to her Instagram story, Kirsten Corley, 30, wrote:
“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together.”
She continued:
“We kindly ask for your privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you – Chance & Kirsten”
Chance also took to his Instagram Story and posted the same message. At this time there have been no further details given regarding the breakup. The rapper, real name Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, 30, married his recently estranged wife back in March of 2019. Prior to their nuptials, the two welcomed their first daughter Kensli in 2015, and their second daughter Marli the same year they wed.
While the Bennetts have mostly managed to stay out of the limelight, Chance’s extramarital behaviors have certainly come under scrutiny over the past few years. If you recall back in May of last year, the “Summer Friends” artist received widespread backlash due to proactively dancing with women during the Carnival festival overseas. Specially, many argued that his actions were inappropriate for a married man, despite him claiming things were “all good” at home.
Before that, the couple’s marriage was tested after social media users discovered Chance had allegedly been liking pornographic content of trans people on X (formerly Twitter). However, Corley wasted no time coming to her husband’s defense. In a social media post, she accused the internet of “reaching” and argued that things are accidentally liked on the platform all the time, stating in a video:
“Sometimes you ‘like’ sh*t by accident. So all y’all little trolls coming for my page, that are getting blocked, y’all can go to hell.”
