‘Dance Moms’ Alum Nia Sioux Says ‘I Just Didn’t Want To Do It’ As She Explains Absence From Reunion Special
Reality TV child star Nia Sioux is letting fans know why she didn’t appear on the recent Dance Moms reunion special.
The 22-year-old explained that she simply didn’t want to participate in the project in a recent video uploaded to her TikTok account.

In the 2:23 video clip, Nia Sioux was responding to a commenter who asked why she wasn’t at the Lifetime documentary reunion special, which saw some of her costars such as JoJo Siwa, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kalani Hilliker, Kendall Vertes, and Chloé Lukasiak in attendance. Sharing about her decision not to participate, Nia Sioux stated:
“The reason is quite simple…I just didn’t want to do it,”

She continued:
“Some people think it was because I had sorority stuff…[or] because I’m in school. I am in school, but it wouldn’t have been an issue..I just didn’t want to do it…That’s a good enough answer, and that’s a good enough reason.”
Nia Sioux was a part of the original Dance Moms cast members who learned under dance instructor Abby Lee Miller at her eponymous dance company. In the years after garnering a major fan base following the show’s 2011 debut, Abby Lee Miller’s militant expectations and criticism of her young dancers came under scrutiny, as dancers and fans began to voice concerns that the dance studio was a toxic workplace environment for children.
Sioux isn’t the only former Lifetime starlet who decided not to join the reunion special. Maddie Ziegler, who went on to star in Sia’s 2014 “Chandelier” music video among other things, also opted not to attend, as well as her sister Kenzie Ziegler. However, Sioux, who has had her own evolving career in entertainment post-Dance Moms, made it clear that she’s thankful for what the experience has done for her. She went on to state in her TikTok video:
“I always say that I’m grateful for it…It’s where I came from. It’s how I got my start. It’s the reason why I have such an amazing life now, truly.”

Adding about her costars who participated in the reunion special:
“I love the girls, and I’m really happy for them…I’m really happy that they get to share how they felt and their experiences. That’s just something that I decided I didn’t want to do.”
