Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Hits 1 Billion Streams On Spotify, Beyhive Still Waiting For Tour Announcement

Queen Bey has done it again. Beyoncé’s, Cowboy Carter has hit 1 billion streams on Spotify. The country-inspired album was released this past March and debuted at the top of the Billboard charts with 407,000 equivalent album units sold during its first week. Beyoncé also became the first Black woman to have a number 1 country album, pushing her to have one of the highest-selling albums of 2024 so far. Chart Data’s latest news shows that her Act II era is as in demand as much as her Renaissance takeover was.

Meanwhile , fans eagerly wait for Beyoncé’s next move after her global Renaissance tour ended. That tour earned more than $579 million worldwide, with 2.7 million fans attending across 56 dates in 39 cities. Beyoncé’s latest success comes on the heels of her breaking Spotify’s record of the most streamed album in a single day in April.

Cowboy Carter has been met with critical praise. Her first two singles, “Texas Hold’em” and “16 Carriages,” broke the internet. When the title of her latest album was finally revealed, fans were already anticipating yet another tour. The Houston native is not new to the country genre. In fact, it was her 2016 Country Music Association Awards performance alongside The Chicks that inspired her.

Beyoncé wrote on Instagram

Cowboy Carter was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed.”

Beyonce’s performance of “Daddy Lessons,” saw an immediate backlash from country music fans whose comments were filled with racial overtones. The performance was even taken down from the official YouTube page of the award show.

Regarding her journey Beyoncé also posted,

“But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives to educating on our musical history.”

The popular singles, “II Most Wanted,” featuring Miley Cyrus, and “Levii’s Jeans” featuring Post Malone have also helped push Cowboy Carter to the 1 billion stream mark. Along with endless TikTok dances to popular songs from the album, fans are hoping Beyoncé’s eighth studio album wins Album of the Year at next year’s Grammy. A category that the superstar has been shunned numerous times.

Her husband, Jay-Z recently made headlines when he famously called out the Grammy’s. Jay-Z questioned how his wife has not won Album of the Year after many nominations and critically acclaimed albums.

As the Beyhive waits for a tour announcement, they are celebrating the singer’s latest milestone on Spotify. Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment is also celebrating its founder’s recent success.

The company posted on TikTok
