Update: Sean Kingston Released From Jail, Lawyer Denies Any ‘Criminal Intent’ In Fraud Allegations: ‘I See A Civil Contract That Was Breached’
Update #2 (June 05, 2024): Sean Kingston has officially been released from jail as his attorney denies the fraud claims against him.
Sean Kingston was released in Broward County, Florida, on Tuesday night (June 4). In a video shared by CBS Miami, Sean Kingston is seen walking out of the facility with a towel on his head and greeting his family and friends who were waiting for him outside. He refused to answer questions about whether he stole jewelry or defrauded anyone. Still, he made it clear that he owned the Maybach he got into after asking if it was rented. He said,
“You can tell by the license plate.”
His attorney alleged he was coerced and should not be criminally charged.
“Things were being paid back, he had certain obligations he had to meet. He met some of them in the past, and there was no particular deadline for him to meet the rest of the obligations. I see a civil contract that was breached, that wasn’t fulfilled, no criminal intent.”
Update #1: (June 03, 2024): New details have surfaced surrounding Sean Kingston’s ongoing legal troubles.
According to reports, the 34-year-old has officially been extradited to Florida from California following his May 23 arrest. He was booked into Broward County jail and is being accused of committing more than $1 million in fraud alongside his mother, Janice Turner.
Turner was released last week on a $160,000 bond and is reportedly facing 8 charges and Kingston is reportedly looking at 10. The mother-son-duo has been charged with conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, identity theft and more.

Original Story: (May 28, 2024): Sean Kingston’s legal troubles might just be starting.
According to TMZ, the “Beautiful Girls” artist is looking at 10 charges related to the raid conducted at his Florida home last week. As previously reported, Sean Kingston wasn’t home during the incident, but his 61-year-old mother Janice Turner — who allegedly joined him in the reported crime spree — was present at the residence and arrested. Hours later, after sharing an IG post claiming his lawyers were handling the situation, Sean Kingston was arrested in California.
Janice Turner was released yesterday (May 27) on a $160,000 bond and is reportedly facing 8 charges, including conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, and identity theft. Kingston is expected to appear in court today (May 28) for his extradition hearing before being sent back to Florida. According to the report, some of his charges include an organized scheme to defraud several companies, defrauding banks, a probation violation, and a grand theft charge of $86,568.33 for a customized bed.
It’s alleged that Kingston and his mother were able to get away with a little over $1 million worth of items due to their scheme. Allegedly, this includes nearly $500K in jewelry, over $200K from Bank of America, a Cadillac Escalade almost worth $160K, $100K from First Republic Bank, plus the $86K for the bed.
