Update: Former NBA Star Delonte West Suffered Medical Emergency Amid Recent Arrest, Reportedly Found ‘Unresponsive’ By Police
Update: (June 6, 2024): more concerning details have surfaced surrounding Delonte West’s Thursday arrest.
According to TMZ, authorities had difficulty taking the former professional athlete into custody. Things started when Fairfax County Police attempted to serve West with a warrant for violating the conditions of his release. However, instead of cooperating during the arrest, it’s said that West took off.
Authorities claim they pursued West on foot and momentarily lost sight of him before they discovered the former Dallas Mavericks player “unresponsive.” Police shared with the outlet,
“Narcan was administered by officers, but [it] did not have the desired effect. He was transported to a local hospital and Narcan was administered again, which yielded the desired effect. West was released from the hospital and transported to the ADC.”
At the time of this report, West remains behind bars.

Original Story: (June 6, 2024): Sad news!
Delonte West, previously known for being a star NBA player, has once again found himself behind bars. According to reports, the 40-year-old was arrested in Virginia at 4:35 this morning (June 6) on two misdemeanor charges: violating conditions of release and resisting arrest. He’s reportedly being held at the Fairfax County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond. Delonte West is scheduled to appear in court on Friday (June 7), reports claim.

As noted above, this isn’t Delonte West’s first arrest rodeo. The former Dallas Mavericks player has a history of police run-ins. In November 2022 he made headlines for being arrested twice within just two weeks. The first arrest was for trespassing and public intoxication and the second was also for public intoxication. Unfortunately, those two incidents are just the tip of the iceberg regarding West’s rap sheet and life struggles.

He’s also reportedly dealing with homelessness, addiction, and bipolar disorder. In the past Mark Cuban — owner of the Dallas Mavericks — has tried to help West, and even purportedly got him into a rehab program. However, in October 2022 the billionaire noted he had to take a step back from the situation, claiming,
“It’s a struggle for him. I mean, addiction is awful. And mental illness is awful. He’s at the point in his life where he’s got to want to be helped.”
