Bad Bunny’s Atlanta Concert Was Allegedly Targeted For Mass Shooting By Man Who Wanted To Kill Minorities & Start A ‘Race War’
Bad Bunny‘s concert in Atlanta last month was targeted by a man from Arizona who wanted to fatally shoot Black people and other minorities, starting a “race war.”
Mark Adams Prieto has been indicted for firearms trafficking, transfer of a firearm for use in a hate crime and possession of an unregistered firearm on Tuesday (June 13). The charges come after he unknowingly sold weapons to an undercover federal agent between January and May, to help him carry out the attack, according to a press release from the Arizona District Attorney’s office.
Local law enforcement intervened and stopped Mark Adams Prieto on May 14 as he was driving toward New Mexico from Arizona.
Authorities said in the release that he “was in possession of seven firearms and was taken into federal custody. Law enforcement then executed a search warrant at his home in Prescott,” where they seized even more firearms.
He’s said to have been targeting one of Bad Bunny’s concerts at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, which were on May 14 and May 15.
Authorities began investigating Mark Adams Prieto after getting a tip from an anonymous source. The individual revealed to the FBI in Phoenix that Prieto said he wanted to incite a “race war.” They alleged that over the last three years Prieto, who was a vendor at gun shows, told them multiple times that he wanted to specifically target Black, Jewish, and Muslim people, according to an affidavit. The source said in the court documents,
“Prieto believes that martial law will be implemented shortly after the 2024 election and that a mass shooting should occur prior.”
The FBI began surveilling Prieto in January and on Jan. 21 he revealed to the source and an undercover FBI agent, who was pretending to be the source’s friend, that he needed their help to execute a mass shooting at a rap concert in Atlanta. Prieto said, per the affidavit,
“The reason I say Atlanta. Why, why is Georgia such a f——up state now? When I was a kid that was one of the most conservative states in the country. Why is it not now? Because as the crime got worse in L.A., St. Louis, and all these other cities, all the [N-words] moved out of those [places] and moved to Atlanta. That’s why it isn’t so great anymore. And they’ve been there for a couple, several years.”
He sold a firearm to an undercover agent for $2,000 in February.
The following month, Prieto told the source and undercover agent that the targeted event would be a rap concert at State Farm Arena on May 14 and May 15, which is where and when Bad Bunny, who is Puerto Rican, was performing.
He also noted that he wanted to target a rap concert because there would be lots of African American people there. He was going to leave conservative flags at the scene afterward.
If he’s found guilty, he could get up to 15 years in prison, fined $250,000, or both, for each of the charges against him.
