Sheryl Lee Ralph spoke on the matter in a recent video posted to her X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing:

“From the looks of the sky, it looks like [hurricane] Beryl is gonna be here much sooner than the news keeps saying…So it’s very calm here in Jamaica, the sky is so beautifully clear. And they said that the sea looked like glass today.”

The 67-year-old continued:

“please stay inside…follow the island’s curfew…stay off the road…I hope you’ve put oil in your lamp and are taking extra care…So to everybody that’s here on the island, we remember that Gilbert was a 3 and Beryl is a 4. Wow. God bless you, goodnight.”

The Abbott Elementary star is in Jamaica attending her son Etienne Maurice’s wedding, scheduled for Saturday (July 6th). Sheryl Lee Ralph shares the 32-year-old with her ex-husband Eric Maurice. Etienne proposed to his longtime girlfriend, ABC News journalist Stephanie Wash, in July 2023. The groom has also expressed his frustrations about category 4 hurricane Beryl, which is expected to make landfall today (July 3rd).

Venting about how the storm is impacting his nuptial plans, Etienne wrote on X:

I’m getting married in Jamaica this Saturday and #HurricaneBeryl is literally screwing up all our plans. Yes i’m disappointed, but i’m holding on to God’s unchanging hand.”

In a subsequent message uploaded to his Instagram story, Etienne seemed a little more accepting of the circumstance. The entrepreneur stated that he was taking a walk and taking in the “beautiful” weather in Jamaica, adding:

“Hopefully Hurricane Beryl is not gonna be as bad as people are thinking, but this will pass…Disappointed that some people aren’t gonna make it to the wedding, but you know, such is life. It’s gonna keep going. And we’re getting married on Saturday. So, that being said, Happily Mauriced is still in full effect. Whoever will be here, will be here. Ain’t nothing I can do, I’m leaving it in God’s hands.”
