Big Sean Sparks Online Debate After Explaining Why He Hasn’t Married Longtime Girlfriend Jhené Aiko

Big Sean’s recent comments on why he and longtime girlfriend Jhené Aiko aren’t married have sparked significant discussion on social media.

In a recent interview on Charlamagne tha God’s Out of Context podcast, rapper Big Sean, 36, explained that he and Jhené Aiko, also 36, have not yet tied the knot because there is “a lot of work that needs to be done.”

Big Sean reflected on their eight-year relationship, saying,

“It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? … And I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all.”

The rapper elaborated,

“To me, marriage symbolizes like, the best relationship … I would like to, and I don’t like putting our personal business out there like that either, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”

Social media users have been vocal about Big Sean’s remarks, with many criticizing his views on marriage, while others resonated with his perspective.

One X user commented,

“If Big Sean is waiting for a perfect relationship to get married, he’ll never get married. If you think any relationship is perfect, you just simply haven’t seen enough. But having kids is a lifetime commitment also. That was just a silly thing to say.”

Another X user added,

“Life is always going to create ‘more work’ to be done in the midst of growing, learning, unlearning yourself and someone else. This sounds like a bunch of excuses TO ME. You KNOW when you want to spend life with someone no matter what. He sounds scared + full of fear.”

Sympathizing with Big Sean’s view, one X user wrote,

“I understand what he means 100%. There are certain things not fixed or solidified where he’s not confident they’ll make it until death do them part. Been there and he’s doing the right thing.”
