Track Star Noah Lyles’ Mother Blasts France’s Olympic Security Team, Says They ‘Ignored’ Her Request For Immediate Medical Attention While Her Son Struggled To Breathe
The mother of Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles is addressing issues she faced amid her sons health emergency.
Keisha Bishop accused France’s security team of not taking her son’s health concerns seriously after he appeared to nearly collapse following a race, and claimed they kept her from going to him.
In a post uploaded to her Instagram account yesterday (Saturday, August 10th), Keisha Bishop shared an image of track and field star Noah Lyles attempting to catch his breathe following the Olympic 200 meter mens race earlier this week, writing:
“This was one of the scariest moments of my life! Watching my son hold his chest gasping for air while the stadium security refused to call a Dr. as I begged them to send him help.”
“They also refused to do anything to help. They totally ignored me! No parent should ever have to experience this feeling of helplessness!”
Lyles‘ mother went on to thank NBC Olympics and USATF, the national governing body for U.S. track and field, showing appreciation to the organizations for their “empathy, professionalism, and kindness,” and for seeing her and her son as “not just another story.” As we previously reported, Lyles announced that he was ending his Olympic run this year after the race, which earned him his first bronze medal, due to him spending several minutes on the ground following his third place win.
Lyles had to be escorted off the track in a wheel chair following the race, and later shared that he tested positive for Covid. Revealing that he was leaving the Paris games, he wrote to X (formerly Twitter):
“First I want to thank God for getting me through this entire Olympics! Second I want to congratulate @LetsileTebogo3 @kenny_bednarek and everyone else on an amazing Olympic 200m final. Finally I want to thank everyone for the supportive messages. I believe this will be the end of my 2024 Olympics.”
And continued:
“It is not the Olympics I dreamed of but it has left me with so much Joy in my heart. I hope everyone enjoyed the show. Whether you were rooting for me or against me, you have to admit you watched, didn’t you? See you next time Sincerely, Your world’s fastest man for the next 4 years!”
In an upload from yesterday, Lyles updated fans that he is official Covid free.
