UPDATE: Travis Scott Released From Jail In Paris w/ No Charges After Fight w/ Bodyguard & Hotel Security Guard
Update #2 (Aug. 12): Travis Scott is a free man. The rapper was released from jail in Paris and will not be charged.
He was arrested late last week after he got into an altercation with his bodyguard at the Grand V five-star hotel. He then allegedly fought the security guard who tried to intervene.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said, according to reports, that
“the police custody order for Travis Scott has been lifted and all proceedings (against him) were terminated because the incident was minor.”
Update #1: Footage of Travis Scott getting arrested in Paris has now surfaced.
A 1-minute video obtained by TMZ appears to be captured through the window of a hotel and shows Travis Scott in the lobby of a luxury Paris hotel with his hands up as officers place him in handcuffs. He’s then pulled out of the venue by three officers and is later seen sitting in the back of a patrol car while officers put on his seatbelt.
Sources say that before his arrest, Travis Scott was mad at the security guard involved after
“multiple days of being chased and harassed by paparazzi.”
After being booked at a jail, he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance to make sure he wasn’t injured, as vase glasses were shattered during the fight.
He’s said to still be in custody as of publication, however, he hasn’t been officially charged yet.
His rep said,
“We are in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve this matter and will provide updates when appropriate.”
Original Story: Travis Scott‘s trip to Paris now includes new legal issues.
The 33-year-old rapper, who’s in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, was arrested after a fight with his bodyguard at the Grand V five-star hotel.
Police said they were alerted to the melee around 5 a.m. Paris time, which is 11 p.m. ET. A police spokesman said after they arrived, the Grammy winner was taken into custody for
“violence against another person.”
The Paris prosecutor’s office also noted that he was arrested for
“violence against a security guard.”
The security guard had intervened and tried to stop the fight between Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, and his bodyguard.
There is currently an ongoing investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, just hours before his arrest, he enjoyed the U.S. men’s basketball game in which they beat Serbia.
His latest stint with authorities comes just after bodycam footage from Travis Scott’s arrest in June was released. The “Sicko Mode” rapper was arrested at Miami Beach Marina for allegedly being drunk out in public. He was booked at a local jail for trespassing property and disorderly intoxication. In new bodycam footage, he tells onsite officers that he’s afraid of them.
