Pras Michel Seemingly Blames Lauryn Hill For Fugees Tour Cancellation In New Song ‘Bar Mitzfa’: ‘She Made The Mess’
Musician Pras Michel went to the studio to get some things off his chest.
The Fugees band member recorded a new song that features a jab at his bandmate Lauryn Hill, and also touched on his federal fraud conviction.
Reportedly Pras Michael, 51, made the track amid the drama surrounding The Fugees’ recent tour cancellation. Appearing to place blame for the situation on Lauryn Hill, 49, and also mentioning his third group member Wyclef Jean, 54, he raps:
“Don’t blame me, blame her, she made the mess … not another f***ing penny, is what I told [Wy]clef [Jean].”
As we recently covered, Lauryn Hill addressed the cancellation of the U.S. leg of The Fugees reunion tour last week, around the same time Pras Michel recorded his diss, according to the report from TMZ. The “Doo Wop (That Thing)” songstress admitted that “low ticket sales” played a big role in the decision to pull the concert series, stating that the media is to blame for creating:
“sensationalism and clickbait headlines [that] have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the show.”
It’s been speculated that Hill was referring to ongoing criticism about her show’s routinely being late, which appears to have sparked a boycott from her North American fans. A Fugees reunion tour has been in discussion for some time now. The group announced they’d be reuniting across U.S. stages back in 2021, before canceling the concert series the following year amid Pras Michel’s federal fraud trial.
Last year, the New York native was ultimately convicted of conspiracy, concealment of material facts, making false entries in records, witness tampering, and serving as an unregistered agent of a foreign power. Michael also referenced the case in his new song, nodding to the fact that several big names such as Leonardo DiCaprio and others were part of the investigation, reportedly rapping the line:
“Obama’s name in the discoveries had to plead the fifth!”
