Akbar V Defends Critique Of August Alsina’s Spiritual Claims On Loving Men: ‘Y’all Mad I Spoke Truth’

Akbar V is making it clear that she stands by her words.

In a recent Instagram video, the 34-year-old rapper and reality TV star reaffirmed her disagreement with singer August Alsina’s claim that a higher power opened his heart to loving men.

In the video, Akbar V stated:

“Y’all so mad… Why y’all so mad? Y’all mad because I spoke truth.”

Akbar V also posted a quote emphasizing her willingness to speak “the truth” and represent God, which read:

“Many Christian influencers are afraid to speak the truth and call out deception. I’ve chosen not to be one of them. Their content holds no weight. God gave me a platform to represent Him, not to build myself. I see confusion among Christians with influence who have millions of followers but say nothing of substance. They fear losing opportunities if they speak the truth. That’s the cost of following Jesus. No opportunity is worth risking my relationship with God. I’ve counted the cost. The rise of faithful influencers is coming, and the downfall of cowards with a platform is near.”

This all followed her reaction to a clip of August Alsina on the Counsel Culture Show, where he expressed his gratitude for how God exposed him to different types of people, places, and things when discussing his openness to loving men.

August Alsina said,

“It’s not even me that’s opening my heart. It’s that power that’s higher than myself. I always say that the greatest gift that God could ever give me was exposure—to expose me to so many different kinds of people, places, and things.”

He continued,

“When people want you to define yourself [in terms of sexuality], love is much more complex than that.”

Soon after August Alsina’s words circulated on social media, Akbar V’s reaction sharply contradicted August’s sentiment. Disagreeing with the notion that God would lead August to love other men, she said,

“Jesus ain’t did nun like this y’all play with God too much … He gives us a choice… How did God do this and he says it’s a sin? So does that mean God is a liar? … Kids, don’t believe this. God don’t do this … His word don’t come back void … If He says don’t do this and someone says He told him to do this, that means you’re calling God a liar, and God is not a liar … Now, I’m not the one to judge ’cause we all fall short of His glory, but don’t put God in your worldly foolishness.”

In her Instagram story, Akbar V clarified her statements, reiterating that God does not promote sin:

“Nick Cannon’s face said a million words without saying it… and this is not to down August Alsina. I’m not against my brother; I’m basically saying God hasn’t told him that because God doesn’t like sin… and if we are sinning, God is not a God who promotes sin then tells us not to sin… I am praying for my brother and hope one day he finds the truth about the true living God.”

Akbar’s opinion naturally sparked a heated debate in her comments section, where she received both support and backlash.

Love & Hip Hop star Zell Swag disagreed with Akbar’s sentiments, suggesting that she should be the last person on the internet to judge others.

Meanwhile, Republican media personality Angela Stanton defended Akbar’s statements, writing:

“AK, I love you. Make sure you’re prepared for the canceling, hate, and backlash that comes with Truth Work. My prayers are with you.”
