Eminem’s Estranged Mom Reportedly Has ‘Advanced Lung Cancer’ & Is ‘Terminally Ill’

Sad news!

Debbie Nelson, the estranged mother of famed rapper Eminem, is reportedly “terminally ill with advanced lung cancer.” A source close to Debbie Nelson has shared with In Touch:

“There are not many options [for Debbie]. She is currently staying between the cancer center and with family members. She has a very limited amount of time [left].”

They continued:

“People around her aren’t even sure if Eminem is even aware of what is happening to his mother. He’s good to his mom. He makes sure he takes care of her, but they don’t really talk. It would be good for both of them [to communicate]. This could give them the chance to reconcile.”

Reportedly, Eminem and his 69-year-old mother are not on the best of terms, but despite their lack of communication, the Grammy Award winner still looks out for her financially.

It’s probably no shocker that Eminem doesn’t have a close bond with his mom as he’s spoken about their strained relationship over the years in his music. In his 2009 record titled My Mom, he raps,

“My mom loved Valium and lots of drugs
That’s why I am like I am ’cause I’m like her
Because my mom loved Valium and lots of drugs
That’s why I’m on what I’m on ’cause I’m my mom”

The two have also battled in court with Debbie Nelson suing her son for $11 million over the drug use allegations. In the end, she was awarded $25,000, but, according to reports, ultimately walked away with roughly $1,600 after legal fees.

Eminem is not the only celeb who has had to face the reality of an estranged relative becoming terminally ill. His archnemesis Mariah Carey recently made headlines when news broke that her mom and sister passed away on the same day. Reportedly, at the time of their deaths, Mariah Carey had been in no contact with her sister for years. It’s alleged that her sibling had problems with her organ functions and died in hospice care.
