Rich Homie Quan’s Family Speaks Out Following His Passing: ‘We Are Comforted In Knowing His Music & Triumphant Spirit Lives On’
Late rap star Rich Homie Quan’s family is continuing to celebrate his life.
The musician’s loved ones recently expressed the pain they’re experiencing losing the rapper so suddenly and also shared their hope that his legacy will carry on.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, the rapper’s family expressed:
“On Thursday, September 5, 2024 the Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father and friend. Known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, Dequantes Devontay Lamar was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia and represented for the A as he and his music traveled across this globe.”
They continued:
“While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on. Quan’s legacy will forever be cemented as a soundtrack to our lives. And for this, we are grateful. Celebration of life details will be shared soon. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support at this difficult time.”
As theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported, Rich Homie Quan, real name Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was found deceased in his home on September 5th at the age of 34. The Atlanta rap star is credited with helping hip-hop evolve, and was known for his Billboard hits such as “Lifestyle” and “Type of Way.” At this time officials have not confirmed his cause of death, with the medical examiner reportedly stating :
“cause and manner of death are pending the completion of laboratory studies and microscopic examination of tissue slides.”
