Taylor Swift Endorses Kamala Harris After Fiery Debate w/ Donald Trump: ‘I’ve Done My Research, I’ve Made My Choice’
In the wake of a heated presidential debate, Taylor Swift has made her stance clear: she’s voting for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
The 34-year-old singer-songwriter took to Instagram on Tuesday (Sept. 10), posting a photo of herself in a black turtleneck, red lipstick, and holding her cat, Benjamin Button, to express her endorsement of Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz:
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most.”
She continued,
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”

The pop icon, who has over 283 million Instagram followers, further elaborated on why she’s backing Kamala Harris, citing her leadership and commitment to key issues:
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos … I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice.”

Taylor Swift also praised Harris’ choice of Tim Walz as her running mate, particularly highlighting his support for LGBTQ+ rights and women’s reproductive freedoms.

Swift’s signature on the post, “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” was a direct reference to controversial comments made by Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate. Vance, in a 2021 interview, criticized Democratic leaders as “childless cat ladies,” an insult that sparked backlash, particularly among women.

As the political landscape heats up, Swift’s endorsement adds a new dynamic to the race, especially following the contentious debate where Vice President Harris directly confronted former President Trump on issues such as reproductive rights and border security. Swift’s political influence, combined with her massive fan base, could play a significant role in this tight race as the 2024 election approaches.
