Donald Trump Blames Joe Biden & Kamala Harris For Assassination Attempts, J.D. Vance Also Weighs In

Former President Donald Trump has accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of fueling the recent assassination attempt against him.

After 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh aimed an AK-47-style rifle at Donald Trump while he was golfing in West Palm Beach, Trump asserted on X (formerly Twitter),

“The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust. Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse!”

Donald Trump’s social media comments reflect his belief that the “communist left rhetoric” from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and others is fueling violence against him. This comes despite his previous statements in 2016, where he offered to cover the legal fees of a rally attendee who punched a protester, and his promise to pardon those charged in connection with the deadly Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Senator J.D. Vance, Trump’s vice presidential pick, also weighed in on the controversy during a Faith and Freedom Coalition event in Atlanta. He argued that the absence of similar threats against Harris is allegedly evidence that Democrats need to “tone down the rhetoric”:

“The big difference between conservatives and liberals is that no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months, and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump.”

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris took to social media following the incident, expressing her relief that Trump was safe.

Joe Biden also said he spoke with the former president after the ordeal, stating that they “had a very nice call.”
