Raven-Symoné’s Fluctuating Weight Led Disney To ‘Go Crazy’ & Digitally Alter Her Body In ‘That’s So Raven’, New Book Claims

Raven-Symoné’s Fluctuating Weight Led Disney To ‘Go Crazy’ & Digitally Alter Her Body In ‘That’s So Raven’, New Book Claims
Raven-Symone? is at the center of new claims about her time on That’s So Raven, with a recent book alleging her body was digitally altered to appear thinner during a body empowerment episode.
In Disney High: The Untold Story of the Rise and Fall of Disney Channel’s Tween Empire, co-producer Dava Savel reveals, “Disney Channel was going crazy about it,” referring to Raven’s fluctuating weight. She added,
“They handled it in really bad ways. But it was never to her face.”
The controversy stems from a season two episode titled “That’s So Not Raven”, where Raven-Symoné’s character Raven Baxter is overlooked for a runway show in favor of a thinner model. Producer Michael Feldman stated, “It was shameful. The very thing that she wanted to do a story about was literally done to her.”
Adam Bonnett, former head of Disney Channel original programming, noted similar postproduction techniques were applied to Raven-Symoné’s attire in other episodes.
In light of these revelations, Raven-Symoné and Disney have yet to comment on the situation.
