Kim Kardashian Celebrates Menendez Brothers’ ‘Second Chance’ After Judge Recommends Resentencing

Kim Kardashian is speaking out following a major update to the Menendez brothers’ case.

The aspirant lawyer, 44, took to her Instagram stories yesterday (October 24th) after a court judge recommended that the jailed siblings be resentenced, writing:

“The Menendez brothers were granted a second chance at life and will wake up tomorrow finally eligible for a parole hearing. They could be released in as early as 6 months.

She continued:

“Thank you, [Los Angeles DA] George Gascón, for revisiting the Menendez brothers’ case and righting a significant wrong. Your commitment to truth and fairness is commendable.”

Kim Kardashian also celebrated the many people who have been supporting the brother’s release, adding that she still “believes in the justice system” and urged the public to “never stop questioning.”

The billionaire SKIMS founder has been very vocal about the Menendez case, which was thrusted into the spotlight following Ryan Murphy’s Netflix drama, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, released earlier this year.

In case you’re unfamiliar, then 21-year-old Lyle Menendez and 18-year-old Erik Menendez were sentenced to life in prison without parole after being convicted of fatally shooting their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, back in 1989.

During the trial, they testified that they acted out of fear their father and alleged that he was sexually abusing Erik for years. They also claimed their dad planned to murder them to prevent the abuse from coming out.

Gascón recommended in a court hearing yesterday that the siblings be resentenced following national attention about the case, stating:

“We’re going to recommend to the court that the life without the possibility of parole be removed and that they will be sentenced for murder.”

He continued:

“because there are two murders involved, that would be 50 years to life….but because of their age under the law, since they were under 26 years of age at the time that these crimes occurred, they will be eligible for parole immediately”
