Keke Palmer Details Her ‘Unhappy’ & ‘Unhealthy’ Relationship w/ Darius Jackson In New Book: ‘It Wasn’t That Black & White & That Was The Problem’

Keke Palmer is sharing her truth about her tumultuous relationship with her son Leo’s father, Darius Jackson, in her upcoming book Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative, set to be released on November 19.

Keke Palmer reveals that their relationship had already become “unhappy and unhealthy” before Darius Jackson’s social media post criticizing her outfit at an Usher concert. Reflecting on the challenges, she notes, “having a baby was a big stressor,” despite Leo being “very planned.” She also highlights the complications fame brings: “Too many voices get in. It can make everybody else not trust you.”

In November 2023, Keke Palmer sought a temporary restraining order, alleging domestic violence and providing details of an incident in which Darius Jackson allegedly attempted to strangle her. Reflecting on that incident and others, she writes,

“I wish I could say he was terrible the entire time or that I was … but it wasn’t that black-and-white, and that was the problem.”

After a six-month mediation process, the couple reached an amicable joint custody agreement. Now, Palmer feels at peace and shares, “I’m so proud of him and happy for him,” noting Jackson has recently entered the military.

Her advice for anyone dealing with a similar situation is simple:

“Walking away is the only way.”
