Selena Gomez Slams Body-Shamers As She Details Health Struggle: ‘I’m Just Human’
Selena Gomez is standing up for herself against internet trolls.
Last week the 32-year-old was booked and busy attending the debut of her new movie Emilia Perez at the American French Film Festival in Los Angeles. For the event, Gomez walked the red carpet in a long-sleeve black cocktail dress that showed off her curves.
After pictures from the festival surfaced online, some questioned why the Disney star posed with her hands in front of her stomach. The comment section of a since-deleted TikTok video detailing the event unfortunately turned ugly with naysayers leaving remarks on Gomez’s physical appearance.
Sliding in the comments to fight back before the post was pulled, Gomez wrote,
“This makes me sick”
Continuing, she touched on her battle with Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and wrote,
“I have SEBO (sic) in my small intestine. It flares up. I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”

The Mayo Clinic says SIBO “occurs when there is an abnormal increase in the overall bacterial population in the small intestine — particularly types of bacteria not commonly found in that part of the digestive tract.” Symptoms include bloating, abdominal pain, and other medical issues.
Over the years Gomez has also been upfront about her lupus diagnosis and kidney transplant.
