Eva Longoria is trending after revealing why the United States is no longer her primary place of residence.
In an interview with Marie Claire, Longoria explained that the changing vibe in Los Angeles made her feel like her time there had come to an end. She also pointed to the recent presidential election as confirmation that she made the right choice, saying,
“The shocking part is not that [Trump] won. It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”

Now living between Mexico and Spain with her family, Longoria acknowledged that she is “privileged” to have the option to leave the U.S., adding that she feels sadness for those “stuck in this dystopian country.”
On social media, reactions to Longoria’s decision have been mostly negative, with many calling out her privilege. One user wrote, “I mean it must be nice that she has the ability to just move and live in lovely Spain or a gated community in Mexico,” while another commented, “Lucky her, not everyone has that option.”
Others seemed relieved by her departure, with one tweet stating, “Good for her for keeping her word. Extra points if she renounces her citizenship. Being rich and moving to an existing overseas second home isn’t exactly ‘leaving,’ but it’s better than most virtue-signaling celebs will likely do.”
