Early Projections Show ‘Wicked’ Outpacing ‘Gladiator II’ For Opening Weekend Box Office
Moviegoers are packing theaters this weekend as Wicked: Part One and Gladiator II go head-to-head in a major box office showdown.
Early estimates from Deadline show Wicked leading with $8 million from Thursday (Nov. 21) previews. Including Monday’s Amazon promotion previews and fan screenings, the total rises to $20 million. Projections for its three-day opening weekend range from $130 million to $150 million, despite its lengthy 2-hour, 40-minute runtime.
Gladiator II brought in $6.5–$7 million from Thursday previews and is expected to reach $60 million by Sunday (Nov. 24).
While these numbers give Wicked an edge, it’s still too early to call which film will dominate the weekend.
