Ariana Grande Says She Reviewed Her “Wicked” Contract With Co-Star Cynthia Erivo To Ensure They Were ‘Aligned’
Ariana Grande is reflecting on the bond of trust she built with Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo long before filming began.
In a recent interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Grande spoke about the pact she made with Erivo after they were cast in the blockbuster in 2021, revealing how their connection grew before production started in December 2022. She stated:
“During that time, we were really getting to know each other in a real human way…We talk a lot about this pact that we made to take care of each other and to be really honest with each other about anything that was to come up, but I don’t think people really get how granular we got and how fully we mean that.”
Grande revealed she called Erivo as soon as she received her contract, suggesting they review it together to ensure alignment.

She continued:
“‘Let’s go beat per beat through this together and make sure we are aligned in what we need…If [we] need something, we need it together. I want us to have each other’s backs. Your problems become my problems, and mine become yours.’”
She also reflected on the deep connection they developed, emphasizing that their bond extended far beyond what the public might see, adding:
“We nurtured each other in ways that no press tour or social media post can truly capture.”
