‘The View’ Host Sunny Hostin’s Husband, Dr. Emmanuel Hostin, Facing Insurance Fraud Allegations

‘The View’ Host Sunny Hostin’s Husband, Dr. Emmanuel Hostin, Facing Insurance Fraud Allegations
The husband of “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin, is facing federal insurance fraud charges in one of New York’s largest RICO cases. Dr. Hostin, an orthopedic surgeon, is accused of performing unnecessary surgeries and submitting fraudulent medical bills to the insurance company American Transit, which insures taxis and ride-share drivers.
The lawsuit claims he received kickbacks for referring patients to an ambulatory surgery center.
Dr. Hostin’s lawyer denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit meritless and accusing the insurance company of attempting to restrict healthcare benefits.
The lawsuit seeks over $450 million in damages and involves nearly 200 defendants. American Transit claims the fraud is rampant in New York, fueled by the state’s No-Fault Law, which requires insurers to pay for medical expenses of accident victims.
Dr. Hostin, who operates Hostin Orthopedics in Manhattan, is said to have performed surgeries on low-impact accident victims without waiting for more conservative treatments.
Sunny Hostin, married to Dr. Hostin since 1998, has previously shared personal struggles, including the loss of her in-laws to COVID-19. While Dr. Hostin denies the accusations, legal experts suggest the lawsuit may be an attempt by American Transit to reduce its financial obligations.
