Immigrants In Chicago & Across U.S. Brace For Expected Trump Deportation Raids
Immigrants in Chicago and other U.S. cities are bracing for possible mass deportation arrests amid Donald Trump’s presidency.
The Rev. Homero Sanchez of St. Rita of Cascia Parish spoke with The Associated Press about the growing fear among his Mexican-American congregation, noting many immigrants feel “targeted for who they are.”

In response, some immigrants are taking precautionary steps, like appointing power of attorney, arranging childcare in case of separations, and installing security cameras at their doors.
Trump’s aides confirmed that ICE plans to target over 300 individuals with reported violent criminal histories in the Chicago area, though reports indicate the administration is “reconsidering” the location and other cities may be impacted as well.
