Jan. 6 Rioter Rejects Trump’s Pardon, Slams MAGA Actions: ‘We Broke the Law-There Should Be No Pardons’
Pamela Hemphill, a convicted Capitol Hill rioter known as the “MAGA granny” on social media, made headlines this week after rejecting a pardon from President Donald Trump for her role in the January 6 Capitol riot.
In an interview with the BBC, Hemphill, who served 60 days in prison after pleading guilty, stated:
“Accepting a pardon would only insult the Capitol police officers, rule of law, and, of course, our nation. I pleaded guilty because I was guilty, and accepting a pardon also would serve to contribute to their gaslighting and false narrative.”

Hemphill criticized efforts to rewrite the events of that day, adding:
“We were wrong that day; we broke the law – there should be no pardons.”
Trump announced pardons or commutations for nearly 1,600 individuals linked to the riot just days into his presidency, sparking widespread controversy.
During a White House news conference, he described the prison conditions as “horrible” and “inhumane.”
