A$AP Rocky Rejected Plea Deal In Ass@ult Case To Protect His Career
A$AP Rocky has refused a plea deal in his Los Angeles trial for assault with a firearm tied to a 2021 shooting.
According to TMZ, sources close to the rapper said the deal would “effectively end his career” due to lost endorsements with brands like Gucci and Puma and restrictions on touring.
“They would have him under their thumb for over eight years,” the source added.
A$AP Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, affirmed, “He is not taking any plea, because he has always maintained his innocence.”
The rapper is accused of firing a gun at former friend and collaborator A$AP Relli. He faces a possible seven-year suspended sentence and jail time if convicted.
The trial, presided over by Judge Mark Arnold, began on Jan. 24 after jury selection raised questions about racial representation, with only four of 106 potential jurors being Black. However, none of the final jurors selected were Black.
Did A$AP Rocky make the right choice?
