Harvey Weinstein Sues Brother Bob Weinstein For Fraud, Says He Misused $45 Million Loan
Harvey Weinstein is taking legal action against his brother Bob Weinstein, accusing him of fraud.
Harvey Weinstein filed the lawsuit in New York’s Supreme Court last week, naming his brother, former #WeinsteinCompany president David Glasser, and former EVP of Accounting Irwin Reiter as defendants. The suit stems from a 2017 complaint by AI International Holdings, which demanded immediate repayment of a $45 million loan Harvey Weinstein personally guaranteed in 2016.
According to Harvey Weinstein, his brother and associates “knowingly” misrepresented the loan’s purpose, leading him to believe it would help sustain The Weinstein Company. Instead, he claims they “diverted significant portions of the loan funds for unauthorized and personal purposes, including bonuses, unrelated business ventures, and personal expenses.”
Weinstein also alleges that Bob Weinstein, Glasser, and Reiter negotiated a settlement with AI International without transparency, ultimately securing a $15 million deal that left him “solely responsible for the remaining $30 million plus interest.” He is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, and the return of any “improperly appropriated” assets.
This lawsuit comes as Weinstein awaits a retrial for his 2020 sexual abuse conviction, which was overturned in April 2024.
