Simone Biles Is Still Unsure About Competing In 2028 Olympics: ‘I’m Trying To Enjoy Life, Travel & Spend Time w/ My Husband’
Simone Biles has yet to decide whether she’ll compete in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
In an interview with French outlet L’Équipe, she discussed her evolving relationship with gymnastics and the possibility of returning to the Games.
The interview was released before the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, where she was honored as Sportswoman of the Year.
Currently, Simone Biles is focused on life outside of competition, supporting her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, and prioritizing her physical and emotional well-being.
“I’m trying to enjoy life, travel, spend time with my husband, and really live as a woman,” she shared. “To return, it would have to be something that genuinely excites me.”
Though she plans to attend the 2028 Olympics, Biles remains uncertain about competing.
“The Games are still so far away,” she said, acknowledging the changes in her body. Reflecting on the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she won three golds and a silver, Biles noted the toll gymnastics takes on her body.
“After Paris, I returned to the Olympic Village and literally collapsed,” she recalled.
Simone Biles, an advocate for mental health, continues to use her platform to spark important conversations, while also crediting Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade for pushing her to new heights.
“A new generation is already on the rise,” she said.
