Stephen A. Smith Claims A Fight w/ LeBron James Was Unlikely, Says His Bodyguard, Police, FBI, & ESPN Would’ve Intervened: ‘I’m An Investment’
As far as Stephen A. Smith is concerned, tensions between him and LeBron James were never going to get physical.
In a recent interview with Complex journalist Speedy Morman, the outspoken sports commentator was asked what might’ve gone down if LeBron had actually tried to swing on him. The two had a viral courtside exchange over Stephen’s comments about LeBron’s son and teammate, Bronny James.
Stephen broke it down with confidence:
“[My bodyguard] was 10 feet away… that brother right there, that’s 330-plus pounds. Not to mention a whole bunch of other people I usually have around me. I really have very little to worry about.”

He went on to explain that his safety isn’t just a casual thing, it’s a full-blown operation:
“On a very, very serious note — everywhere I go, ESPN knows. Local police, FBI, everything… I’m always guarded because I’m an investment. I make a lot of money for the mouse.”
Stephen emphasized that his protection isn’t just LeBron-specific, adding that he’s “always protected” no matter who might try to run up on him.
What do you think? Is Stephen A. right that a fight was never going to happen? Or was there a real chance things could’ve gotten physical?
