A$AP Rocky Says Denzel Washington Bumped Pooh Shiesty & Moneybagg Yo On Movie Set: ‘He Likes To Listen To Memphis Rappers’

“Denzel would pull up to the movie set playing Pooh Shiesty and Moneybagg Yo, swear to God,” he said. “Can’t make this up.”
Apparently, Washington has a soft spot for Memphis hip-hop. “He likes to listen to Memphis rappers, but modern Memphis rappers,” Rocky explained. “Then he started quoting NLE Choppa. I’m like, ‘You know NLE Choppa?!’ He like, ‘I don’t do drive-bye now, walk ’em down.’ I’m like, ‘Yo, Denzel, chill!’ It was crazy, he’s really tapped in, man.”
Washington and Rocky star in “Highest 2 Lowest,” Spike Lee’s gritty reinterpretation of Kurosawa’s 1963 film “High and Low.” The highly anticipated neo-noir thriller drops its U.S. theatrical release on August 22, with streaming to follow on Apple TV+ September 5. The teaser just debuted ahead of its Cannes premiere.
Are you surprised at Denzel’s music choices?
