Mel B Says She Was ‘Fired’ From ‘America’s Got Talent’ Before Returning For 20th Anniversary Season
Mel B is speaking on why she stepped away from America’s Got Talent… and why she’s back.
During a recent interview on the Today show with Howie Mandel and Terry Crews, the Spice Girls star admitted, “I got kind of laid off and fired,” before adding with a laugh, “But yeah, I’m back now.”
When asked what brought her back for Season 20, she replied, “I mean, why not? It was perfect timing.” Co-judge Mandel joked that she returned because “she gets to work with me,” but Mel said it was really about the whole crew:
“You know, I thought, well, I love working with you guys.”

Host Crews added,
“And we love you too, Mel.”
Mel is replacing Heidi Klum this season and joins Mandel, Simon Cowell, and Sofia Vergara at the judges’ table.
