Nicki Minaj Reveals She Nearly Walked Away From Music Due To Constant Criticism & Career Sacrifices: ‘I’ve Thought About Quitting So Many Times’
Nicki Minaj is opening up like never before. In a candid interview with Vogue Italia, the rap icon revealed that the constant criticism nearly drove her to give up her career entirely.
“I’ve thought about quitting so many times,” Nicki Minaj shared. “I’m glad I didn’t. I hope my story can be an inspiration and push kids, adults, anyone, not to give up.”
Reflecting on her journey, the 42-year-old discussed delaying motherhood to chase her dreams and support her family.
“As a woman, I put off becoming a mother,” she explained. “Some don’t regret it, but others do. I put it off.”
Nicki Minaj, who now has a four-year-old son with husband Kenneth Petty, said she missed out on holidays and milestones to focus on her grind.
“I think the price was not having a ‘normal’ life,” she admitted.
Still, she’s working to give her son what she never had—both materially and emotionally.
