Sportscaster Ryan Clark Reveals His Son Jordan’s NIL Deal Surpassed His Entire NFL Rookie Salary
‘The Pivot’ host Ryan Clark is opening up about the changing financial landscape for young athletes—and how his son’s earnings highlight the shift.
During a recent appearance on Complex’s Idea Generation, the former NFL safety revealed his son Jordan Clark, now with the New York Jets, made more from an NIL deal than Ryan Clark did during his entire NFL rookie contract.
“We’re sitting down, and we’re having the NIL meeting, and you know he’s told that his baseline is going to be more money than I made my rookie year in the NFL,” Ryan said. “It’s crazy, right?”
Ryan, whose rookie deal with the Giants paid $262,500 annually, warned that these lucrative NIL deals can easily derail athletes without the right guidance.
“When you think about some of these kids who don’t have the right people around them… players have to be extremely weary,” he cautioned.
