Michael B. Jordan Says Denzel Washington Warned Him To Avoid Overexposure: ‘Why Would They Want To See You On A Weekend If They Can See You All Week For Free?’
Michael B. Jordan’s rise to box office dominance with “Sinners,” a $350 million global hit, didn’t happen by accident.
In a New York Magazine cover story, the actor revealed he’s been intentional about staying off social media and limiting interviews to “create a demand” for himself. That decision stems from a blunt piece of advice he once received from Denzel Washington: “Why would they pay to see you on a weekend if they see you all week for free?”
Jordan said Washington’s warning about overexposure stuck with him, helping shape a carefully curated public image.
Jordan’s career began with TV roles on “The Wire” and “Friday Night Lights,” but everything changed after Ryan Coogler cast him in “Fruitvale Station.”
Was Denzel’s advice solid?
