Drake’s Defamation Lawsuit Against UMG Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Dismissed

Drake’s federal defamation suit against #UMG (Universal Music Group) has been tossed out by the court.

The lawsuit stemmed from #KendrickLamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” which included lyrics and imagery that Drake claimed falsely labeled him a p3dophile. Drake alleged that UMG was aware of the defamatory content and still chose to release and promote the track.

However, the judge ruled that the statements in the song were “non-actionable opinion,” meaning they were not factual assertions but rather subjective expressions. The court emphasized that even serious accusations, when presented in the context of a diss track, are generally understood by the public as opinions rather than facts. Additionally, the judge noted that Kendrick’s line referencing #Drake was a direct response to Drake’s own diss track, “Taylor Made Freestyle.”

Are you shocked to see Drake’s case dismissed?
