Nia Long Recalls Time She Turned Down Prince Because She Didn’t Recognize Him
In another world, #NiaLong and Prince might have been a thing.
During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Nia Long revealed that she once turned down an advance from the legendary Prince. “I was at Roxbury back in the day and I had on my Kenneth Cole pumps — I remember,” she said. “We were walking out of the club and this guy tries to grab my hand. And I’m like, ‘I’m from Brooklyn, don’t be grabbing me, touching on me!’”
Nia said that once she made it out of the club with her friend, they told her, “Girl, you know that was Prince!” However, when they went back to speak with him, he was gone. Thankfully, Nia shared that she got a chance to reconnect with the “Kiss” singer nearly 20 years later. Her friend threw her a birthday party, and #Prince surprisingly showed up. While Nia wanted to clear the air about their brief encounter at the club, she said Prince just wanted to talk about her hair. “I’ll take what I can get — it’s Prince,” Nia said, letting the audience know she wasn’t mad.
