“2 Fast 2 Furious” Star Devon Aoki’s Husband Arrested After Allegedly Running Over Man On Scooter & Fleeing
#DevonAoki’s husband, James Bailey, was arrested this week in Coral Gables, Florida, after police say he hit a man riding a stand-up scooter with his Audi SUV and then left the scene.
According to the arrest report, the scooter rider was in a crosswalk when Bailey’s vehicle struck him, running over the victim’s foot during the frightening incident. Video obtained by WPLG Local 10 reportedly shows the man pleading with Bailey to move the #Audi off him before collapsing to the ground in pain. Authorities say Bailey ignored the victim’s pleas, leaving the vehicle on his foot for a brief period before he ultimately “drove away, heading back to his home.”
Police say the victim suffered two fractured feet and a “large contusion to his left calf.” The victim’s girlfriend allegedly provided officers with a description of Bailey’s vehicle, which helped them track it using license-plate readers and surveillance cameras. When officers went to the address Bailey shares with retired actress Aoki, she was home and told investigators she did not know where the SUV was.
As officers were preparing to leave, Bailey arrived at the residence in the vehicle and ran inside, locking himself in, authorities said. Minutes later, he exited the home and surrendered. Bailey was booked on charges of hit-and-run causing serious bodily injury and resisting without violence and was released Tuesday (Dec 16). “We are currently gathering information about this accident as it involved someone operating a scooter entering an intersection,” his attorney told TMZ.
