Civil Rights Activist Jesse Jackson’s Funeral Arrangements Announced
Civil rights leader Reverend #JesseJackson has had funeral arrangements announced following his passing on Tuesday, Feb. 17. According to the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Jackson will lie in state next Wednesday and Thursday (Feb. 25-26) at Rainbow PUSH in Chicago, with doors opening at 10 a.m. each day.
A special event called The People’s Celebration is set for Friday, Feb. 27, at House of Hope, followed by homegoing services on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Rainbow PUSH headquarters, with doors opening at 9 a.m. on both days.
Founded by Jackson in 1996, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition is an international human and civil rights organization that fights for social justice, economic empowerment, civil rights and the political empowerment of marginalized people. His passing marks the end of a long legacy of activism and leadership in movements for equality and justice.
