Gwen Stefani Credits Spiritual ‘Awakening’ For Getting Pregnant w/ Her Third Child At 44
#GwenStefani is opening up about how faith played a role in expanding her family.
During a conversation for the Catholic prayer and meditation app Hallow, the singer said she believes a spiritual “awakening” helped her conceive her youngest son, Apollo, whom she welcomed at 44. Reflecting on her upbringing in an Italian Catholic household, Stefani shared that religion was always present growing up, though her relationship with faith has evolved. She also noted that she calls herself a “baby Christian” because she is “certainly a work in progress.”
Stefani, 56, explained that her renewed focus on spirituality came during a period when she was hoping to have another child but was struggling. She recalled meeting someone who began discussing religious teachings and a “big epiphany awakening” with her, which she described as a turning point. “I was desperate at this point too… I really wanted to have another baby,” Stefani said, adding that she felt the conversations were “waking me up.”
According to Stefani, her oldest son, Kingston, also played a touching role in the experience. She remembered telling him, “I’m sorry, your mommy’s too old to have a baby now,” but he began praying for her to conceive. Not long after, she discovered she was pregnant. “I think it was like four weeks later and I was pregnant with Apollo… I had [him] at 44 years old naturally. Totally a full-on gift,” Stefani said, calling the moment “the first miracle.” Stefani shares her three sons, Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 12, with ex Gavin Rossdale.
