Rapper Mystikal Admits Guilt In 2022 R*pe Case + Avoids Life Sentence But Faces 20 Years
Rapper Mystikal has officially entered a guilty plea in a case that has followed him since his 2022 arrest.
The 55-year-old artist, born Michael Tyler, pleaded guilty Tuesday to third-degree r*pe in a state courthouse outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As part of the plea deal, the charge reduces the severity of the case, but he still faces up to 20 years in prison. Tyler had previously pleaded not guilty to more serious charges, including first-degree r*pe, simple r*bbery, domestic ab*se b*ttery and false imprisonment—offenses that could have resulted in a mandatory life sentence if convicted.
The case centers on allegations from a victim who told investigators Tyler raped her, physically a$$aulted her, and prevented her from leaving by taking her phone and car keys. She also claimed he forced her to send money through Cash App.
Mystikal, known for his 2000 hit “Shake Ya A**,” has faced legal troubles before, including a prior s*xual a$$ault conviction that required him to register as a s*x offender.
His sentencing is currently scheduled for June.
