Brian McKnight’s Estranged Son, Brian McKnight Jr., Asks Fans For New Name Suggestions Following His Dad’s Public Fallout w/ Adult Children
Brian McKnight Jr. might be adopting a new moniker soon.
While joking around with fans on Threads, the musician asked, “What should I change my name to since y’all keep playing in my face? ?” His question comes after years of tension with his estranged father, #BrianMcKnight. The famed singer has faced criticism over the alleged way he’s treated his adult children. One point of controversy arose when Brian reportedly called the children he welcomed before marrying his current wife, Leilani — Brian Jr., Niko, Briana, and Clyde — a “product of sin.” Fans also criticized him when he welcomed a son with Leilani and named the child Brian McKnight Jr.
The public backlash intensified after Brian was accused of refusing to grant his son Niko his dying wish of hearing “I love you” before he passed from cancer last year. Instead of rekindling, he allegedly told Niko, “I can’t arbitrarily say that I love you.” While Brian has defended his actions and shared his perspective on moving forward with his new family, the public and even some fellow celebrities have continued to call him out over the allegations.
