Tupac Shakur M*rder Trial: Cop Testifies Keefe D Claimed Diddy Was Supposed To Pay For Rapper’s M*rder

New testimony in the Tupac Shakur m*rder case is resurfacing a long-running allegation involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Retired Los Angeles police detective Daryn Dupree testified Wednesday (Aug. 19) that Duane “Keefe D” Davis allegedly told investigators in 2008 that Combs had offered money for the k•llings of Tupac and D3ath Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight. Dupree testified that Davis claimed Combs “was supposed to have given money to Zip Martin to give to Mr. Davis for payment of the Tupac m#rder.” Knight survived the 1996 Las Vegas shooting that k*lled Tupac.

According to Dupree, Davis claimed the alleged money never actually reached him. The retired detective testified that Davis told investigators he could reconnect with Martin and get him to discuss “the money that was given from Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs to Mr. Martin that never got to Mr. Davis.” Dupree said investigators then flew with Davis to New York “so Mr. Davis can work undercover” and attempt to rekindle his friendship and business relationship with Martin.

The undercover effort was apparently unsuccessful. Dupree said Davis attempted to meet Martin at a club, but Martin “passed him off to his nephew to do business with him.” Dupree added, “Zip had had cancer or something like that. He was sickly. He said he wasn’t in the business no more, something like that. So it didn’t work.”

The testimony does not establish that Combs actually paid anyone to k*ll Tupac; Dupree was recounting allegations Davis allegedly made to investigators. Combs has denied involvement in Tupac’s k#lling and has not been charged in connection with the murder. Davis is accused of orchestrating the September 1996 drive-by shooting that k+lled the 25-year-old rapper in Las Vegas.
